FAQs

Q: I moved around when I was young. What do I put on the registration form?
A: Put the place where you spent the most time, even if it was only a few years.

Q: How long will this take?
A: It depends. If you take one survey only, it should take about 10 to 15 minutes. If you want to do the quizzes and follow-on activities, it will take considerably longer.

Q: Do I have to follow certain routes through the resource?
A: There is no strict ordering of elements in the site, although there are suggested pathways. You can go all the way through one pathway, including the survey, quiz, activity, and maps, or you can jump between pathways as you wish.

Q: Can I leave and come back?
A: Yes. If you are using the same computer and the same browser, you can return to your user profile. However, if you leave halfway through a survey, quiz, or activity, you will need to start it again.

Q: Why can’t I change my answer to questions on the surveys?
A: We’re interested in your immediate response to the question, and we don’t want you to second-guess yourself.

Q: I just want to look at one answer choice on the map. How do I do that?
A: You can untick the box to the left of the answer choice on any map to hide those answers.

Q: This is interesting! How can I find out more?
A: You can click here for more information on each of the pathways, as well as further resources on Scots, and ideas of how to use Speak for Yersel in your classroom.
